The one where: I celebrated my nineteenth birthday

How to have a great birthday

So, finally celebrated my nineteenth birthday on September 15. Nineteen, eh? Crazy! For it, I went out with my friends' friends (met them all for the first time - loved them!) and just generally had a lovely time. That was the Saturday before my birthday (my birthday being on the Monday) so, on my actual birthday I went to Frankie and Benny's with my mum and two sisters.  It was so nice - I love Italian food! Here, have a picture of me on my birthday pulling probably not the best face you've ever seen whilst in work:

Weirdly, work on my birthday was amazing too! It felt like a normal day, really, until about 1pm. I honestly thought everyone had forgotten - not that I hadn't mentioned it enough times. Anyway, it got to 1pm and everyone (Jayne, Gem, Rich and Pip) were all acting really suspicious. It wasn't until I realised they were all standing in the kitchen that I knew they were obviously up to something. 20 minutes later and a near death experience with the candles, they were all walking over. Cake in one hand, card and present in the other. I was so happy. It just made me realise how lovely they all are. The cake was chocolate, card was hilarious and present was jewellery. Got a few pics here to settle your imagination down, it's been a long day.

This next picture is me and my beautiful mum. Taken, of course, whilst in Frankie and Benny's. I love my mum. She is the most amazing person I know and forever makes me happy. Everyone should make time for their mum on their birthday. Whether they like it or not, it was their mum that brought them into the world and I honestly wouldn't have it any different. My mum is the best and I wouldn't be the person I am today without her. Simply can not sing her praises enough. Thanks mum (although you'll probably won't read this).

I even got a cake off my mum at the end of it all. Was such a cute little girl-y cake, perfect for me  to enjoy after a long day of being the birthday girl.

On Tuesday (the day after my birthday), my best friend, Tillie, kindly got me and her tickets to go and see Wicked in the theatre. I love the theatre. It's such magical and inspiring place. Unlike the cinema, it actually makes you feel like you're a part of the show. It really involves you. Wicked was absolutely amazing! It was that good, I was even contemplating making a whole blog post on that alone. It was probably the best musical I have ever seen and once it had finished, I instantly wanted to see it again. Everything about it was amazing. The costume, the lighting, the acting, the singer, the list can go on. I would 100% recommend it anyone - whether you enjoy going to the theatre or not - you should go and see Wicked if you ever get the chance. 10/10 from me.

Well, I guess that's all from me for now guys. In an attempt to get more people to follow me on here or even at least look at my posts, I've decided to think of more interesting things to speak about. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't.

G'bye!

The one where: I actually blogged my life

Is this how to blog?

Long time, no speak (not really that long). This week has been one of my busiest weeks really. Monday was the only day I didn't do something after work and actually got home on time. We got some lovely flowers delivered to the office though. Beautiful white ones that really made the office look even better.

Tuesday I went to an Indian restaurant with everyone I work with. Was great. It made me realise my love for everyone here even more and how much they all really do inspire me, in their own unique way.Whilst sitting around the table, I got asked to describe everyone in one word. It was hard to pick one word to describe these incredible people I have had the pleasure of working with for the past two months. It was then, that we decided to take a picture. Such a great night with such great people.

It wasn't until the end of the meal when I realised I was supposed to be taking pictures  for memories. Here, have a picture of my macaroons (first time I tried them and can honestly say they're not as amazing as everyone makes out) and raspberry sorbet.

Next up, Wednesday. I don't have any pictures for Wednesday because once I got home I had a driving lesson. We all know how phones and cars don't mix so didn't really want to risk my rep(utation) on the road and take a sneaky snap. Wednesay was fun though. My driving instructor, Mike, is a really loveable person and makes it easy and fun for me to learn new things. Fingers crossed that I pass my driving test before Christmas!

Thursday (yesterday) was a good, spontaneous one. I randomly decided I wanted to go the hairdressers and finally get my hair sorted out. Now, I've never been to the hairdressers before. Some of you may think that it's because I think they're too expensive and some may think I just have never been bothered. Both, partially right. I think the hairdressers, all hairdressers, are overrated. Wow. Cut my hair how I don't want it and tell me I now look better why don't you. I can easily cut and dye my hair myself so always thought there was no point in hairdressers/salons. Yesterday though, I decided to 'treat myself', as my mum would say. I booked myself in to one of the most expensive salons in town and went there straight after work with my sister. I got a cut, dyed, shampoo and curly blow-dry all for the fabulous amount of £92. Dare I say it, I think my hair looks pretty good though. See for yourself:

The picture on the left is obviously my hair before-hand. So frizzy and dead. The picture on the left is my hair after two hours of getting it 'treated'. A lot more life put back into it and just generally looks better. I wish I would have done it sooner, instead of going to parties, events, meeting new people and seeing better things with my hair like how it used to be. When I came into work this morning, everyone said how much better it looked. Gemma said how hair is something we wear every day and that I should take pride in it more often. "Girls will spend so much money on dresses and shoes they will only wear once, when you can spend the exact same amount of money on your hair and wear it forever" she said. Gemma, the woman of such fabulous quotes I personally think she should write a book. My hair looks so much better the way it is now. I think I am finally starting to get the hang of being the nineteen and learning to look my age.

That leaves me with today, Friday. Just me and Rich in the office as everyone else has gone home. I have completed all my work (hence the reason I am writing this). Rich is going on holiday on Monday and agh, I so wish I was going too! I need a holiday - right now, please?
It's 17:21 and I'm leaving in 9 minutes.

Thanks for reading guys,
Speak soon.

The one where: I give you an update on my life

What should I do for my birthday?

So, I got my A-levels: BBC wah wah...big deal right? I mean..yeah, I'm glad but I don't really know what to say/do in terms of reacting to them. Tillie got A*AC, amazing. It seemed my mum was happier and more proud for her than she was for me. A simple "well done...I'm proud of you" and we haven't spoken about it since. I can't blame my mum really though. I'm not going to Uni so I guess she thinks I don't care about my grades. Also, she doesn't really get the whole "grade boundaries" really. I suppose I could tell my mum I got FFU and she would say the same thing. No offence, mum.

I also quit Poundland (not that I've spoken about that job on here before). Well, when I say "quit" I mean, I never called up to say I would be off today so I'm hoping they know I won't be in ever again. I may regret it sometime soon but for now, I hate it there. I need the weekend to myself, really. I mean, working all week 9-5:30 then not getting home until 6:30, it's harder than it sounds. You may call me stupid but I know I'm doing the right thing - health is way more important than a petty £42 a week. It's quite beneficial actually too. Especially with this new, amazing job I have at Moore Media. So many opportunities come up for me to go to certain events at weekends but I've never been able to because I've been working so now, I can.

On the plus side, it's my birthday soon. 15 days to be exact. Birthdays seem to be coming closer and closer as I grow older. My 18th feels like it was only last week. Wow, I'll be 90 soon! Although I have had practically a whole year to plan what it is I want to do for my 19th, I still don't know what to do. I had this one idea, to go to some place in Manchester called "Jump Nation". Basically, an entire room filled with trampolines - the walls, the roof, the floors - the place is covered in them. I thought the idea would be great until I realised I had like what...0 people to invite to it. It seems the people I am there for most, don't seem to want to be there for me. Why is that? Why is it that at one point in my life I had so many happy, lovely people around me and now I just have my family (who I completely adore).

Danielle tried though, I suppose. Saying she would invite Ste (her boyfriend)  and she would book it for me. As much as I want to have fun on my birthday with my sisters and Ste, it wouldn't be the same as having friends around me. Sometimes I just wish I had more people to rely on, I guess. Bouncing around in a room filled with trampolines with Danielle, Tayla and Ste will feel like we're there for Danielle's birthday, not mine. I have Tillie - 100% though - but I am kind of starting to get the feeling she wants to move on with the next chapter in her life (which is Uni) and leave me behind in her 'old life', so to speak. She will meet lots of new people who she will have so much more in common with than me and slowly she will forget about me. It's sad but, I know it's going to happen - I can feel it already. We haven't seen eachother in almost a month. Which to some might not seem like much but, to go from seeing her every day to only seeing her once a month, it's hard. She's my best friend and I suppose I'm just starting to miss her. I miss being around people of the same age group as me. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love love love the people I have around me at the moment; my mum, Danielle, Tayla, Nan, Colette, new friends; Gemma, Rich, Pippa & Jayne, but there is still a small part of me that wishes I could have someone to relate to and have someone to talk to about 'being 18/19 problems'. I suppose I'm being silly though. Not everyone has friends of the same age group. I have one friend and she is slowly slipping though my fingers. *Cue Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA*

To anyone, if anyone, that reads this - please reply with some of your troubles at the moment. Declaring your troubles to people who don't know you is so much better than keeping them bottled up inside. It works a lot!
Also, give me some tips/tricks on what I can do to make my birthday (September 15) a whole lot better (with or without friends) and any ideas as to what I can actually do.

Until next time,

The one where: Things started to look up

A more positive life

Without speaking too soon, hoping this doesn't jinx anything for me but, things are actually starting to look up for me.

Finally I've finished all my exams and left college. Although I was so excited to be leaving college and the whole education thing behind, I was, surprisingly, kind of sad when I left. I know it's something I have to do in order to go up in the world but, I never imagined to be leaving it behind and being sad about it. I think its more of the routine thing I will be missing. I'll miss having the schedule of something set that I know I can easily fall back on. College was such a big decision for me. It, unquestionably, has changed my life. I walked in there with so many friends thinking I knew how my life was going to turn out. I thought the friends I had previously made, were there to stay and I thought we'd be going through everything together. I walked out of College on Tuesday 10th June a total different person with a total different perception on life. I completely and utterly couldn't have been any more wrong two years ago with how I thought my life was going to pan out.

Anyway, enough of all this boring, soppy stuff - onto the things that matter in life. Happiness. Today I had an interview for an apprenticeship I have only ever dreamed of. It wasn't a surprise when I woke up this morning extremely nervous with an uncontrollable sick feeling in my stomach. It wasn't until I actually walked through the doors of where my interview was, that I realised everything was going to be okay. This was possibly one of the biggest chances I would ever get in something I have always loved. Media has and always will be a huge part to my life. Whether I'm reading a magazine or updating this blog - it's something I love to always be in touching distance of. The two women I met today were extremely nice - never wanted to stay in an interview so much in my life. The best thing about it though is everything that they were saying, I was totally and utterly agreeing with. I've never felt so at home in an unknown place before. I spoke about how I write this personal blog and how I love to write stories. How Social Media is also a big part to my life and what I think Facebook is turning into. Everything they said was so important to me and made me so inspired. It was honestly a dream come true to sit down with two incredibly talented and well educated woman and discuss the things I've never had the chance to speak about before. It was such an incredible atmosphere and everyone there was so lovely and welcoming too, it just made me want to stay longer.

Finally I'm getting to where I want to be in life and I couldn't be happier. I knew everything would be worth it in the end!

Inspirational quote of the day/week: Stick at something that you know will be good for you in the long run. Also, don't always listen to everyone else's opinion on something - have your own perception on everything in life.

The one where: I did the same as last time

Do I need to update more?

Okay, its April...it's been about two months since I last posted on this and I clearly didn't stick to my promise.

I never really know what to say on this to be honest with you all. When I made this blog, I thought 'Oh yeah, my life is some-what fun, I could sooo run a blog based on it'...wrong!

Today my day has consisted of College, like every day! Although College may seem just like a steeping stone from High School to University to some, trust me it is hard! One of my biggest pet-hates is that people don't realise how much work I actually have to do. Working 6-7 hours a day, having coursework deadlines for each subject (normally all on the same day also) and then finding the time to revise these subjects is something I have almost learnt to deal with. If all of this wasn't bad enough anyway, I then have work...like real 'I get paid for doing this' work. It's hard to do all of this, s'all I'm saying.

Posting an update on my current situation with University, I don't think I want to go...not just yet anyway. I spoke to my form teacher who is supposed to be there for guidance and she told me I'm making a huge mistake. Is it really that bad that I feel I need at least one year out of education in order to breathe? When I spoke to her (which was about one month ago), she said she would speak to me in more detail the week after and we would discuss it properly...I'm still waiting. Yeah I get it, a decision like this is something I need to learn to make on my own but when I have people saying how much of a mistake I'm making by not going, then others saying how much of a mistake I'll make if I go, it's hard for me to come to a definite decision on what do/who to please.

If I take one year out, what will I do? I don't want to spend the rest of my life wasting time on what my future is going to consist of. If I go to University, what if I don't like the course I am on? I don't want to have to pay the stupidly ridiculous amount of £9000 just to study something for three months..? There are definitely more pros than cons to me not going to University.

I suppose I just made a decision...

Right, I'm going to try and work out how to post my stories on here. If by the time you're reading this and it's like three months into the future and there are still no stories, you know I'm still trying to work out how to do it and make it look some-what presentable.
Thanks for reading, guys.
